Two and a half decades in, Dragotec USA still delivers the best corn heads for growers who want better yield capture and ROI.
Twenty-five years ago, Denny Bollig set out to bring a better corn head to American farmers. Today, Dragotec USA is the exclusive North American distributor of Olimac Drago corn heads, backed by a nationwide dealer network and a reputation built one harvest at a time.
As we mark this milestone, it’s worth looking back at where it all started and remembering why the hard years matter as much as the good ones.

Where It Started
Denny’s story doesn’t begin in 2001; it begins decades earlier, on his family’s Century Farm near Fenton, Iowa.
He started farming in 1974, right as corn prices were riding high near $4 a bushel. Three years later, prices had fallen by more than half, and the land Denny and his wife, Darlene, had purchased was worth a fraction of what they’d paid for it. They lost equity but kept their commitments and paid down their debt — an experience that changed how Denny approached farming, and later, business. That resilience, forged in a tough farm economy, became the foundation for everything that came next.
While farming in the 1980s and the 1990s, Denny exercised his mechanical skills by building prototype seeding and tillage equipment for Concord Air Equipment, DMI and Case IH. These diversified connections later served as stepping stones propelling his business idea forward with a dealership model that came together quickly. First, however, a personal connection at Horsch Anderson in early 2000 would play a significant role in shifting Denny’s sights at international corn head solutions. Their business relationship and friendship with Kevin and Donna Anderson, farmers and entrepreneurs of Andover, South Dakota, provided Denny and Darlene a gateway into the European market and introduced them to Olimac’s products.

Impressed with the design and performance, Denny brought the first corn head from Italy to harvest corn on his Iowa farm in 2000. “While riding in the combine cab with Denny, the corn head performance was impressive, and it was the first time we did not have kernels bouncing off the corn head,” reflected Darlene.
“From that point on, there was no turning back.”
Founding a Family Business
By the late 1990s, residue sizing was gaining traction in the U.S., and Denny saw an opportunity: bring Olimac’s corn head technology to American farmers. He founded Dragotec USA in 2001, picked up his first set of corn heads, and started knocking on dealer doors the following year. Three of those early partners — The Red Power Team, Arnold’s Inc., and Butler Machinery Company — are still with Drago today, two and a half decades later. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the product of a family business that set out to take care of its people from day one.
“We strive to take good care of our people. Several of our dealers have been with us since the beginning, which speaks volumes.”
He says that the Carboni family, who owns Olimac, wanted to work with a family business in the U.S., rather than a large brand.
“They had offers to sell, but the grandfather, Giuseppe Carboni, once told me that would be like ‘selling my son.’”
Bollig, who has three sons, Dustin, Derek and Devin working with him, notes that many of the dealers they sell through are family owned and that most of his customers operate family farms.
“We’re a family business that wants to stay a family business, too.”

“There is no other company in ag that I know of that controls quality as well as Olimac does with Drago corn heads,” says Bollig. “It’s a passion and it’s a joy to be around — it has been a true honor to partner with them.”
After bringing its corn heads from Italy, Drago’s role as the distributor is to adapt and enhance the product with components to meet the unique needs of the North American market. “We customize and modify the corn heads in the United States while providing support for our customers,” states Dustin Bollig, vice president of sales and marketing.
Such components included offering various poly, precision solutions, including HeadSight (Header Height Control) and incremental attachments.
Growth, Innovation and Integrity
What started with one product idea has grown into a company of more than 30 team members and a network of 152 dealer locations across North America, with Dragotec remaining family-owned throughout.

Derek, Devin and Dustin have carried the family’s farming and business legacy forward. Across the harvest equipment landscape, competitor corn head brands have started to acknowledge the importance of yield-saving technology like Automatic Self-Adjusting Deck Plates that Drago knew to be essential all along.
Through it all, the mission has stayed simple: bringing growers the highest-quality, best-performing corn heads in the industry.
An Exciting Milestone: Celebrating 25 Years of Dragotec USA
Twenty-five years in, Drago isn’t slowing down. The launch of the new Drago GT+ corn head brings exciting new features in yield capture, efficiency and durability to those looking to maximize performance and minimize downtime, building on the innovative Drago Series II and Drago GT heads before it.
As today’s trends point toward an openness to adopt new brands outside the main line harvest equipment of the past, Denny notes that the decision to go with Drago is still one for bold, independent thinkers who value their operation’s ROI and lasting legacy.
“Those who purchase Drago corn heads today are just as bold as the first.”
“We connect with people who want to be more efficient, who understand how durability translates to fewer trade cycles and are looking for ways to harvest more corn,” Bollig says.
Looking Ahead
Twenty-five years of Drago is really a story about people: the farmers who trusted an unproven product, the dealers who believed early and stayed, and a family that turned hard times into a lasting business.
Here’s to the next 25 years.
